Eventbase powers official 2022 SXSW GO mobile app featuring hybrid selector and live session capacity

Returning to Austin this week for the first time in three years, South by Southwest® Conference and Festivals (SXSW®) is once again trusting event app leader Eventbase to power the official SXSW® GO mobile app, presented by Showtime.

Eventbase creates the world’s best event apps,” says Justin Bankston, Chief Technology Officer at SXSW. “Since 2011, Eventbase has launched breakthrough technology at SXSW and we’re excited to see how their innovations continue to shape the future of live events.

This year the app features a robust new Schedule with advanced personalization features. Attendees can build a personal schedule and Agenda Gaps will suggest sessions an attendee may want to attend when they have a block of free time.

Eventbase’s new Hybrid Selector lets attendees choose whether they are “In-Person” or “At-Home”, allowing for the app experience to be tailored to their selection. In-Person attendees will see the sessions in Austin timezone while those At-Home will see sessions in their local timezone.

Live Session Capacity is a feature designed to help attendees check the current status of a venue’s capacity in the SXSW GO app. Updated in near-real time, sessions, film screenings, and music showcases are flagged with green, yellow or red indicators so attendees will know if a session is full or if they should hurry for their chance to get it.

The SXSW GO app also includes attendee networking integrated into SXSW Social platform, an Events Nearby section for location-based recommendations, and a new SXSW X NFTs section created by Blockchain Creative Labs.
