ETL Ambassador Spotlight: Dahlia El Gazzar

Dahlia has an OMG-attitude about all things eventtech and experience design. She’s her own brand, with more than a decade of experience in the meetings and events sector, working on both the professional planning side and as an association collaborator, Dahlia is known as the coffee-fuelled ‘go-to’ source for trend-setting solutions, eventtech news, and professional branding expertise.

How would you describe Event Tech Live to someone who has never been?

It is the candy store for those bullish about getting to know what tech is out there in the market, and more importantly, how to implement event tech in innovative ways for all your experiences.

How has the event technology landscape evolved over the years?

It’s still crazy waters when it comes to event tech. The navigation is not easy. And to top it off, there are now blurred lines with martech, and other tech landscapes. For busy event professionals, there will always be a huge need to grasp what works and what doesn’t for their business goals.

What makes Event Tech Live a unique event compared to others in the industry?

It is the only playground, aka industry event, focused on event tech.

Who do you think would make for a great keynote speaker or panel discussion at Event Tech Live?

The EWD gang. :) And also Scott Galloway.

What work / productivity tool could you not live without?

Evernote

What’s your favourite piece of personal tech?

my phone

Thinking about technology terms, slang or acronyms which one do you hate the most and why?

hybrid – a word that made the majority of the industry’s greatest minds hurt and confused on strategy and execution. While when thinking of virtual as it’s own ‘venue’ – the event and/or content continuum can be thought through in much easier ways.

If you could invite any fictional character to be a keynote speaker at the event, who would it be and why?

Winnie the Pooh. His simplistic ways of seeing things, or end results, and taking the stress out of overthinking, and not finding the joy in doing what we do best. That is what we need now. Eventprofs need Winnie the Poohisms. :) “You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” 2. “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”

If event technology had a personality, what kind of personality traits do you think it would have?

The boyfriend that you love and hate at the same time. He knows what you want, and you sometimes aren’t able to articulate what you are thinking you want. He’s not a mind reader, and yet he’s a great cook, :). Personable, friendly, but sometimes doesn’t compute, holds back, and tries again.
