About Steve

Steve Taylor is one of Europe’s leading specialists in sustainability at events and festivals. Working with music festival organisers in Scotland since 1997 he is now regularly asked to advise international festivals and to lecture on sustainability, environmental management, site design and community involvement at events and festivals.
As part of a successful career as an environmentalist, events and economic development advisor he has become well known for his work with music, arts and cultural festivals where he focuses on bringing together economic, environmental and community benefits. His festival successes include Scotland’s T in the Park, Wickerman and HebCelt, the Lake of Stars in Malawi and Radar in Bulgaria. He was Sustainability Manager for Glasgow’s Festival 2014 which ran alongside the Commonwealth Games, the largest global multi sports event in 2014, and where his planning and operational team achieved a recycling rate of 80%. He has an enviable record in winning Greener Festival awards, and is currently working with events as diverse as the new Flight Festival in Hong Kong, the Royal Highland Show and Chatsworth Flower Show.

In addition to major international festivals, Steve also provides Event Management Plans and Risk Assessments for small scale events including Classic Car Shows, Christmas lights events and community scale festivals.

Steve currently works with A Greener Festival and assessed the Manchester PRIDE festival this year, while also advising AGF’s sustainability work at the Royal Horticultural Society’s flower shows. In this role he keeps an eye on innovations and technical advances in the events sector, and has tested many new ideas such as reverse vending in a festival environment, compostable packaging and electronic lift share schemes.

Steve was a winner of the 2017 Glasgow Business Awards, winning the Innovation in Business award and in 2014 won the inaugural Green Champion award.
