Piing wins prestigious international start-up award at Switzerland business conference

Games for crowds maker secured top gong at the Impulse Summit in St Gallen

Piing has won a prestigious award at an international sports and business summit held in Switzerland.

The Manchester-based crowd gaming tech firm won the Start-Up Competition in collaboration with SportsTechX at the Impulse Summit in St Gallen on Thursday, November 9.

Along with the prestige of winning at the international business summit, the award carried with it a prize of 5000CHF (£4,519 GBP).

The competition was sponsored by summit Co-Organisator and partner Bundesamt für Sport BASPO and the awards were decided by a jury consisting of Carsten Koerl, Hélène Guillaume Pabis & Francisco Fernandez Griñon.

Gareth Langley, Piing CEO, travelled to Switzerland for the summit, where he gave a five-minute pitch on the brand to the international audience before winning  the award. He said: “As a brand that exists to make other people cheer by playing our mass participation arcade games on big screens at the world’s most exciting events, it’s nice to celebrate our own win. It’s also always great to know we’re getting noticed on a global stage.

“This award means so much to us as a start-up company. We focus on providing fun and entertainment to crowds through our products and we rarely step back to see the wider picture, how we are doing in our industry and among our peers. We have the utmost respect for those who share our sector and to receive an accolade such as this from our own industry is a massive boost.”

Piing received their award on the same day that they were shortlisted in the Prolific North Tech Awards in the Best Startup category.
