SaaS (Software as a Service) vendors love two things: subscription payments and self-service clients. Automatically-renewing recurring revenue coupled with low sales and support staff costs makes for highly profitable and scalable businesses.
But does this model work for event organisers? Per-event budgets don’t always fit an annual subscription model, and organisers can struggle to find time to learn new software, preferring instead to outsource whole services to suppliers. But this drives up vendors’ costs which must be passed back to customers.
So a question for organisers is: “which business processes can we manage with affordable, self-service tools, and which ones should we pay a premium for, to ensure we get the best possible product and support?”
