Part of the AI in Events 2025 research from Event Tech Live. Interview by Adam Parry, founder, Event Tech Live. Published 14 February 2025. Last updated 18 April 2026.
Baris Onay, founder of Precision Communities, on how AI is scaling community content from a single session into a year of output, and the next frontier: conversational agenda building for attendees.
The three things Baris says you need to know
AI-backed matchmaking goes beyond the connections a human team could forge. It has been around a long time and has repeatedly enhanced the quantity and quality of matches between buyers and sellers.
AI turns session recordings into year-long, high-quality output. Precision Communities records, transcribes and summarises every session to produce mini whitepapers for audiences from every speaker on the programme. Roundtables and community meetings get the same treatment.
Conversational AI agents are the next step. Onay sees the opportunity for AI assistants that build agendas for attendees through conversational interfaces, with minimal unstructured input from the attendee.
How is AI contributing to community engagement at events?
AI can process large datasets and understand connections much faster than any human-only team. A clear example is AI-backed matchmaking, which allows events to go beyond the level of connections that could otherwise be forged manually. It has been around a long time and has repeatedly enhanced the quantity and quality of matches between buyers and sellers.
With the recent democratisation of generative AI and better natural language processing, systems can now parse free-text fields and unstructured data much more effectively. Small but clever examples exist, like LinkedIn’s auto-generated icebreaker messages, which may lead to more introverts taking the first step in starting conversations.
How can AI help event organisers serve niche communities?
AI is excellent at understanding, processing and summarising long texts quickly. Precision Communities uses these abilities to record, transcribe and summarise session recordings, producing mini whitepapers for audiences from every speaker on the programme. This turns event content into a year-long, high-quality output. The same approach works for roundtables and community meetings, generating outputs and action points.
What are the most innovative ways AI is being used to personalise attendee experiences?
Most of what organisers try to achieve is helping attendees hit their event goals: suggesting sessions to attend, people to meet, exhibitors to visit. AI makes these outputs more precise, quicker and more tailored to each attendee, with minimal and often unstructured input from the attendee themselves. Onay sees an opportunity in AI assistants that build attendee agendas through a conversational interface.
“AI can go through large datasets and understand connections much faster than any human-only team. An excellent example is how AI-backed matchmaking allows you to go beyond the level of connections you could otherwise forge on your own.”
